I don't know but I think they came early.

This message board post courtesy of The Weather Channel :There is sleet and freezing rain all today in the forecast with a bit of light snow possible (nothing significant in that regard -- more up in the Panhandle than around Dallas) with temps threatening to match all-time record lows. More of the same coming tomorrow, minus any chance for snow.

When I'm in Texas, I live in the vicinity of Tyler, which is about 100 miles east of Dallas. I have to decide whether it's worth it to make the drive to Dallas tomorrow -- will decide that early tomorrow morning. All travel comes at my own expense.

Bill, just curious as to what they did with the Goodyear plant in Tyler since it closed a few years back? Know anyone affected by closure?

The rivalry is still there. That was evidenced by the Flyers being able to win earlier this year despite the records. When they meet, everything else goes out the window.

Pittsburgh is Pennsylvania's version of Buffalo.

No matter how many Carnegie Mellons or Aviary Museums they open, they'll still be the weaker, meth producing little brother with the funny accent in PA.

kind of like how cowboys fans don't give a flying (frank) about the eagles, but eagles fans hate dallas to the bone.

Meh, I don't agree with this at all. For me and many of the fans I know, Its the Penguins WAY above any other team..especially in the last 7 or 8 years.

This, however, is very accurate. The Eagles aren't even a blip on the Cowboys screen compared to the Giants, Redskins, 49ers, and even the Packers.

Benn will score a goal tommorow. Flyers are fantastic at getting players out of scoring droughts.

I depends. The original rivalry was the Blues in the late 60s, then it was the Bruins for a bit, and then the Rangers throughout the late 70s/80s/early 90s. Then, when the Devils decided to become a real hockey team, they were our big rival for a decade, although the Rangers were still there. Pittsburgh has been our biggest one recently. It all depends on when you started watching games. To me, the Rangers and Devils are still the 2 that I hate the most. I can watch and appreciate a Penguins game, but I can't stand to watch a Rangers or Devils game unless they're being decimated.

I treat it like the Capitals. They go on about their huge rivalry with Pittsburgh, while Pittsburgh has them down to MAYBE third on their rivalry list. I'm not saying there's no rivalry there, I'm just saying there are other, longer-standing blood feuds that exist. Had Pittsburgh been a better team in the late 70s/early 80s (basically any time without Lemieux), back when things were way crazier and things go out of control much more often, they'd probably be at the top of the list.

Growing up, the Penguins never became a threat until they intentionally tanked and were gifted Mario Lemieux.

Otherwise, it wasn't really rivalry. The Flyers kicked around the Pens with regularity until that point.

Don't personally know anyone affected -- it closed in 2008, two years before I moved from living full-time in Philly to splitting time between the two places -- but a lot of people lost jobs. Currently, there's still nothing on the site but an investment group bought the land a year ago and there's a development project.

I don't think this is true. Flyers pens rivalry had been alive and building momentum for 6 years now. Devils were biggest before that, 90'd into 2000's. Rangers haven't been for awhile now. It's all about playoff meetings. To me what happened 20-30 years ago has minor relevance to what is being carried onto the ice today
